After back-to-back 7-6 seasons, the Boston College Eagles will be looking to take the next step in 2025. BC didn’t lose much talent in the transfer portal, though the secondary might be lacking depth with four players entering the portal.
Bill O’Brien’s squad lost 11 players via the transfer window, covering those 11 spots with commitments already. Boston College isn’t usually a big player in the transfer portal, but O’Brien’s experience could help them improve the talent on the squad.
Here are three important contributors who left the program in the transfer portal.
3 impact players Boston College lost via winter transfer portal
#3. Jerand Bradley, Wide Receiver
The junior came over from Texas Tech, where he had 92 receptions for 1,274 yards and 10 touchdowns in three years. However, he couldn’t find rhythm in the Eagles offense, catching six passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Perhaps his most important moment in Chestnut Hill came against Western Kentucky when he scored the game-winning touchdown in a 21-20 victory. Jerand Bradley will now go back to the Big 12 and join the Kansas State Wildcats for 2025.
#2. Sione Hala, Linebacker
A sophomore from Los Angeles, California, Sione Hala had a disappointing end to his time with the Eagles. After registering 26 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in 2023, Hala could only manage 11 stops last season.
Part of his issue is that Daveon Crouch became a solid starter on the weak side and is expected to come back for another year. Still, Hala was a solid depth piece for Bill O’Brien’s defense.
The experienced linebacker has transferred to FCS Weber State, where he will look to recapture his 2023 form.
#1. Thomas Castellanos, Quarterback
In two years at Boston College, Thomas Castellanos was hot and cold. While he had some noteworthy moments, there was a part of the fanbase that always seemed to clash with him. Whether it was his playing style or his injuries, he was often targeted by critics.
Castellanos passed for 3,614 yards with 33 touchdowns and 19 picks. He also ran for 1,307 yards and 14 scores for the program. He lost his starting job to Grayson James towards the end of last season.
Castellanos has already enrolled at Florida State, where he will rejoin Gus Malzahn, who recruited the quarterback at Central Florida coming out of high school. The Waycross, Georgia played sparingly for UCF before transferring to Boston College after only one year.
