Cade McNamara is an American college football quarterback who will be playing his final season of college football with the Iowa Hawkeyes. McNamara played high school football at Damonte Ranch High School where he was honored as the Gatorade Player of the Year twice, in 2017 and 2018. During his varsity years, he led his school to the Northern 4A Region title game and finished his senior season with 2,995 passing yards and 39 touchdowns. McNamara participated in the Elite 11 and was selected to partake in the U.S. Army All-American game. The four-star prospect from Nevada concluded his high school career setting state records with 12,084 passing yards and 146 touchdowns.

The 6ft 1inch, 205-pound quarterback from Reno signed with Michigan Wolverines over offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, Hawaii, Nevada, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and USC among others in 2019. McNamara redshirted his freshman season after seeing no action. In 2021, McNamara started in every 14 games recording 2,576 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. He helped Michigan to the Big Ten Championship in 2021 before transferring to Iowa Hawkeyes in late 2022. In 22 career games for the Wolverines, McNamara passed for over 3,000 yards. He was expected to be the starter for the Hawkeyes ahead of the 2023 season but was out for the season with a torn ACL after starting five games. McNamara confirmed his intention to return to Iowa in 2024 for his final season of college football.
