Cade McNamara plays as a quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Born in 2000, he joined them after spending three seasons with the Michigan Wolverines. McNamara faced a career-threatening injury in September 2023, when he suffered an ACL tear in his left knee. He is expected to make his return in the 2024 season, again with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he will attend his final year of eligibility.

One of his biggest college-level achievements was to win the Big Ten Conference title as the starting quarterback in 2021, and he was a backup to J.J. McCarthy in 2022 at Michigan Wolverines.

Brought up in Nevada, US, McNamara is an American football player. He attended Damonte Ranch High School in Nevada, where he played baseball as an infielder and pitcher. After his freshman year, he quit baseball and only concentrated on football.

He played as the starting quarterback for his high school team for most of his high school career (via ESPN). He also won the Gatorade Player of the Year for Nevada, two times in a row, i.e., 2017 and 2018.

In January 2019, he started his college career in Michigan as a prospect from Nevada after his high school. However, the quarterback did not play his first college game until November 2020, after which he slowly became a regular for the Wolverines during the 2021 season. He then traveled to Iowa in 2023 to play college football with the Hawkeyes, with two years of eligibility left (via HawkeyesSports).

Cade McNamara was born on May 28, 2000, in the city of Reno in the northwest part of Newada, US. McNamara stayed in his hometown until high-school.

Cade’s father, Gary McNamara worked as a baseball coach in his hometown, which influenced the youngster during his early years.

After Cade left baseball for American football, Cade’s father was upset as he himself was a college baseball player for Fresno state in 1992 and 1993. At the University of Nevada he played as the starting center midfielder. He commented on his son choosing American football over baseball.

"Brutal," Gary stated (via MLive) on his son ditching baseball. "I actually stopped coaching after that season."
