He was born on May 25, 2002, in West Columbia, Texas, to Patrice and Calvin Ward. He made a name for himself during his high school years at Columbia High School playing football for his high school team. After committing to the University of the Incarnate Word, Ward's performance for the college football team earned him the prestigious Jerry Rice Award as the most outstanding freshman in the NCAA Division I FCS in 2020.
