Cameron Rising is an American football quarterback for the Utah Utes. He was born on May 13, 1999, in Ventura, California. Rising stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. He is currently a redshirt senior majoring in Psychology and Criminology. Rising began his college career at Texas in 2018 but transferred to Utah, where he has played since 2019.

Rising attended high school at Newbury Park, where his football career took off. There, he was a top recruit, ranked as the No. 8 pro-style quarterback nationally by Rivals. He earned numerous honors, including two-time first-team All-CIF and All-Camino League Offensive Back of the Year in 2017. Rising set a county record for attempts without an interception and had impressive senior statistics with 1,689 passing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.

Cameron Rising’s collegiate football career began at Texas in 2018, where he redshirted and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He transferred to Utah in 2019 but did not play that season, taking another redshirt year. In 2020, Rising saw limited action due to an injury, starting only one game against No. 20 USC. He completed 3 of 6 passes for 45 yards before his season was cut short.

By 2021, Rising emerged as a key player for Utah. He appeared in 13 games, starting the last 11 of the season. He finished with 2,493 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 74 rushing attempts for 499 yards. His performance earned him First-team All-Pac-12 honors and he was a semifinalist for the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year. Rising excelled in various statistical categories, including passing efficiency and total offensive touchdowns.

In 2022, Rising had a standout season, starting in all 13 games. He passed for 3,034 yards with 26 touchdowns and rushed for 465 yards and six touchdowns. He was named the Pac-12 Championship Game MVP after leading Utah to a victory and received an honorable mention for the Pac-12 All-Conference team. His notable performances included a career-high 415 passing yards and three rushing touchdowns against USC, and a strong showing in the Rose Bowl despite an injury. Rising’s 2023 season was cut short as he took a redshirt season, but he returned in 2024 with a notable performance against Southern Utah, where he threw for 254 yards and five touchdowns.
