Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers struggled in the SEC clash against the then No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs in Austin. Despite opposing quarterback Carson Beck's struggle, the Longhorns couldn't capitalize on their part of the offense, resulting in a 30-15 win for Georgia.

Talking about Ewers' performance after the team's first loss in the season, coach Steve Sarkisian said:

“I think Quinn definitely can play better. We’ve got to continue to work his pocket presence and making sure that he’s capitalizing on the premier looks when we get them, why we’re calling plays and we get those shots to take them. But I also think we need to play better around him.
“Our offense isn’t about one player playing well, it’s about all 11 playing well. And I don’t think we’ve been at our best from a from a totality standpoint. So yes, Quinn needs to play better, and I believe that he will. I thought he played a better second half. Again, the game was a little bit out of whack, but I think we need to be better around him as well.
“I think he’s going to come out and play really good football for us here in the second half of the season.”

Joel Klatt explains Steve Sarkisian's decision to bench Quinn Ewers during Georgia matchup

The unbeaten Longhorns team faced their first loss in Week 8 and the quarterback struggles were evident enough for Steve Sarkisian to make a tough call during the game and bench their QB1.

Talking about coach Sarkisian's decision, college football analyst Joel Klatt shared his two cents on the situation.

"When Arch Manning goes in the game, you have to understand one thing as a quarterback and Quinn Ewers knew that. As soon as Arch jogs on the field, if he has success it's his job. [Coach Steve] Sarkisian knows that he's willing for that outcome to take place," Klatt said.

However, just like Ewers, Arch Manning also struggled, going 3 of 6 for 19 yards in the limited time he spent on the field.

Meanwhile, Quinn Ewers went 25-of-43 for 211 yards clubbed with a pair of touchdown passes and one interception.
