EA Sports College Football 25 has been a huge success, bringing one of America's most popular games back to the world of console video games. Electronic Arts returned to college athletics after a decade-long hiatus, with their prior series NCAA 14, which came out in 2013, being their last title on the genre before College Football 25.

The game sold 2.2 million copies, bringing in $200 million in revenue even before the official release date of July 19. This was achieved through an early access scheme for those users who bought the $99.99 priced deluxe edition. To make this even more amazing, the game is only available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

That's right, the game isn't available on any other device but the latest generation of console. So far there's been no sign of any intent of having College Football 25 in PC or older console models like the PS4 or the Xbox One.

Why is College Football 25 not available for PC?

There's been some surprise to the fact that College Football 25 is an exclusive for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. By some estimates, the PC gaming community is an even bigger market than the console one; 900 versus 629 million players, as per Main Leaf Games. Take into account that those 629 million players include users of older consoles too, not just PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

However, according to Screen Rant, the reason for PC gamers being left out is a legal one. In a world of NIL, EA Sports has had to get permission from almost every player to use their image and likeness in the game. One of the biggest parts of PC gaming is modding. Introducing the game to PC could mean that modders could alter the features of players without their consent, or even worse, bring in players with whom EA Sports hasn't reached an agreement.
