Central Michigan vs. Miami (OH) Preview
Central Michigan is a 12-point underdog against Miami (OH), while the over/under is set at 47 points.
The Chippewas are on a two-game losing streak as Central Michigan has struggled as of late. Central Michigan blew a lead to Eastern Michigan as the Chippewas were outscored 22-7 in the fourth quarter to lose.
"The first half, we've just got to play better, it's as simple as that," running back Marion Lukes said. "No energy in the first half. I know the fans are tired of it, the coaches are tired of it. I'm tired of it. We just have to keep moving forward and push through the struggles that we have.
"I have complete faith in this team. You see what we can do; you've got to score points in the first half so it's not all in the last 30 minutes of the game.
"All of our losses literally have been from the first half and it's just people being lackadaisical in certain situations. We've got to play like we have dreams. … You can't just show it in the second half when your back's against the wall. You've got to do it now or it's never going to happen."
Central Michigan is led by Joe Labas, who has thrown for 1,114 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. Lukes has rushed for 440 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensively, Central Michigan has been led by Jason Williams and Dakota Cochrane, who have 3.5 sacks.
On the other hand, Miami (OH) is coming off back-to-back wins as the RedHawks are starting to play good football. Miami (OH) has been led by Brett Gabbert, who has thrown for 1,562 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while Kenyon Mozee has rushed for 425 yards and two touchdowns.
The RedHawks offense should be able to have plenty of success against Central Michigan's defense, which has been an issue this season.
Central Michigan's offense also struggled this season, as quarterback Joe Labas was benched, but he should start here after backup Bert Emanuel Jr. left the game with an ankle injury.
Miami should be able to get a turnover or two to give the offense plus field position as the RedHawks extend their win streak to three.
Prediction: Miami 31, Central Michigan 17
