Another week of the college football season is in the books, and some coaches are on the hot seat after Week 2. Some big upsets and close games made some coaches look a lot worse than they did coming out of Week 1.
It's still a little early for firings to start happening, but here are five coaches who could be counting their days.
CFB coaches on hot seat after Week 2
#1, Billy Napier
Florida defeated FCS member Samford 45-7 on Saturday, but that doesn't move the needle regarding Billy Napier. He leads the college football coaches on the hot seat after Week 2 because he came into the season on the hot seat. After a 41-17 loss to Miami in Week 1, it's going to take more than beating up on an inferior opponent to get him out of trouble.
#2, Marcus Freeman
Marcus Freeman is one of the newest and biggest names on the hot seat after Week 2. His Notre Dame squad suffered the biggest upset of the season when it lost to Northern Illinois 16-14 on Saturday. The fifth-ranked Fighting Irish were unable to get any offense going.
The Fighting Irish will likely plummet down the rankings when they are updated on Sunday. Notre Dame can bounce back, so it's not the end for Freeman yet, but he's certainly on the hot seat.
#3, Dave Aranda
Dave Aranda might not be the country's biggest name among coaches, but the Baylor coach should be on the hot seat after Week 2. His Bears lost 23-12 to the Utah Utes and were dominated in the first half. If the team does not turn things around, he could be done.
#4, Deion Sanders
Sanders is an interesting case among coaches on the hot seat after Week 2, because after Colorado's performance in Week 2, a 28-10 loss at the Nebraska Cornhuskers, he deserves to be on the list. However, his son is the starting quarterback, so it could cause issues if he is fired. It's an interesting dynamic to watch.
#5, Kirk Ferentz
Iowa is usually a shoo-in to win its interstate matchup against Iowa State. That was not the case this year as it lost 20-19. Losing a game like that could be enough to get Kirk Ferentz fired if he can't turn the offense around.
