CFB Insider makes a bold prediction on Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama future

Alabama lost three games in the 2024 college football regular season. Thus, the Crimson Tide were left out of the inaugural expanded College Football Playoff, making for a disappointing season for the perennial playoff contenders.

It only got worse for Kalen DeBoer's team as No. 11 Alabama lost 19-13 in the ReliaQuest Bowl game against the unranked Michigan Wolverines. That concluded his first season as the college football powerhouse's coach.

Following his 9-4 debut season, a well-respected college football analyst believes it's only a matter of time before he's shown the exit door.

Brandon Walker predicts that Kalen DeBoer will be off of the Crimson Tide sideline after just two seasons. In a video posted by Pardon My Take on Wednesday, Walker expressed his disappointment in how the Crimson Tide performed in the regular season.

"He will be a two-and-out guy," Walker said. "Who's gonna be their quarterback next year? ... What's coming down the pipe at Alabama? ... They are way closer to a normal SEC team than they've ever been. And nothing is happening to make me think that's going to change.
"I guarantee you, if they go 9-3 or 9-4 with a blowout, he's out."

The Alabama Crimson Tide fan base has been used to winning for so long and was clearly upset with numerous performances this season. The bowl game loss to the Wolverines was particularly jarring due to Bama's desire to end the season on a high note.

As such, DeBoer enters the 2025 season under tremendous pressure to improve his record. Furthermore, they remain the most popular team in the stacked Southeastern Conference.

What to expect from Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2025?

The Alabama Crimson Tide became so used to winning under Nick Saban, with six national titles and double-digit wins in each of the past 16 seasons, that their four-loss campaign in 2024 had to sting, as they've not lost that many games since 2007, when Saban went 7-6 in his first season.

DeBoer might want to pay attention to the total, as jobs such as the one at Alabama are highly scrutinized for the duration of a season.

The Crimson Tide will be a much different team as they've lost the likes of Jalen Milroe, Justin Okoronkwo, Sterling Dixon, Jeremiah Alexander, Amari Jefferson, Justice Haynes, Dylan Lonergan, Caleb Odom, Kobe Prentice and Jehiem Oatis. They've added Dre'Lyn Washington, Nikhai Hill-Green, Arkel Anugwom, Kam Dewberry, Blake Doud and David Bird, among other recruits.

The goal is to make it to the expanded College Football Playoff and then take it from there. DeBoer will have his work cut out due to the uber-competitive nature of modern college football. However, it's important to note that DeBoer reached a national championship game before he got to Bama with the Washington Huskies; he knows a thing or two about winning football games.
