Chris Klieman at Big 12 media days 2024: Top 5 questions we want Kansas State HC to answer

The Big 12 media days are set to take place on July 9 and 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Media day is a time for players and coaches to preview the upcoming college football season which is set to begin next month.

Kansas State Wildcats coach Chris Klieman will be speaking to the media at 2:20 p.m. ET. Ahead of his press conference, here are five questions fans want coach Klieman to answer.

Top 5 questions we want Kansas State HC to answer

#1 How will the offense fare without Collin Klein?

Collin Klein had been with the Kansas State coaching staff since 2017 and was the offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.

Klein left to take the OC job at Texas A&M, and replacing him is Conor Riley, who was the offensive line coach for the Wildcats the past five seasons.

How different Kansas State's offense will look is a major question many fans want to know.

#2 Is Avery Johnson ready?

Will Howard transferred to Ohio State, and Avery Johnson is projected to be the starting quarterback.

Johnson was a freshman and went 37 for 66 for 479 yards and five touchdowns, along with zero interceptions. He played well in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, but that was just one game.

Johnson is expected to start at quarterback, but whether or not he is ready for it remains to be seen.

#3 Who starts at RB?

Kansas State has a two-headed monster in the backfield in DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards.

Giddens rushed for 1,226 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, while Edwards came over from Colorado. In his freshman season, he had 321 yards and one touchdown.

Both Giddens and Edwards can start, and it will be interesting to see if Klieman decides to have both on the field at the same time.

#4 How do they match up against the new Big 12 teams?

The Big 12 has added Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State this season to make the conference that much harder.

Kansas State does avoid Utah in the regular season, who is favored to win the Big 12, but the Wildcats do play Colorado, Arizona (in a non-conference game), Arizona State, Kansas and Iowa State as some of their conference games.

The Wildcats do have a tough schedule, and how they plan on dealing with that will be an interesting answer from Klieman.

#5 Is there pressure on them to make playoffs in an expanded field?

The College Football Playoff will be expanding the field to 12 teams this season, which means there is that much more of an opportunity to make the playoffs this season.

Every team that misses out on the playoffs will have to face some questions about what went wrong, and for Kansas State, who has the second-best odds to win the Big 12, there are expectations of making the playoffs.
