Cade Clubnik has been the starter for the Clemson Tigers throughout the year, with Dabo Swinney giving him his vote of confidence for a third straight season. Clubnik is on pace to have his best season ever, having recorded almost as many yards as in 2023. The Clemson faithful are certainly expecting him to do so, as it would help the team clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff later this year.
In the final stretch of the regular season, he's attempting to channel God's guidance into performances that will help the Tigers get into the first ever 12-team College Football Playoff. The signal-caller recently told ESPN how he came to feel more at ease this season while being on the turf:
“[Reserve QB and student coach] Paul Tyson comes up to me and he goes, ‘Man, God’s in your corner.’ And at that time I just felt peace, I’m just sitting on the sideline praying that God would be in control, and He was,” Klubnik said.
Clemson may need God's help to get into the playoffs. While they face a rather easy to teams in the Citadel and No. 18 South Carolina, some teams with more impressive wins on their calendars are also vying for the last few spots in the playoff picture.
Cade Klubnik's 2024 stats for Clemson
Cade Klubnik has thrown for 2,563 yards with 26 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2024. His QBR stands at 77.0 and ranks No. 17 in the nation (Interestingly the same spot his team has in the latest Top 25 poll). He's 281 yards away from matching his career-high 2,844 yards from 2023. That year, he also had 19 touchdown passes and nine interceptions, both numbers he has already improved upon (Bar a disaster that leads to him throwing five interceptions in two games).
The only number that is slightly below is his completion percentage, which stands at 63.4%. In 2023 he had a slightly better 63.9%. That number could still improve and be better than last year's.
