After a season with an ACC championship and the resultant College Football Playoff berth, Clemson has avoided too much off-season transfer portal chaos. Only a handful of players are coming or going during the offseason. Moreover, Clemson's 10-win season will leave the remaining Tigers as favorites in the ACC for next season.
Still, not everyone has kept their place at Clemson. Here are the three biggest names who have left that situation.
Clemson Transfer Portal: Top 3 portal exists from Tigers during winter window
3. AJ Hoffler, DE
A four-star recruit from Atlanta, Hoffler has had a minimal impact in two seasons with the Tigers. He had just three tackles in 2023 but did improve his totals to 13 stops including a pair of tackles for loss in 2024. As a 250-pound edge rusher, the chance for more playing time was apparently attractive to Hoffler.
Hoffler will have two remaining seasons of college eligibility. He chose to stay close to home, transferring to Georgia Tech for his next collegiate stop. Given Tech's impressive 2024 campaign and proximity to his roots, the Yellowjackets seem like an ideal spot for Hoffler. He's likely to see more opportunities to have extensive playing time in 2025 at Tech.
2. Troy Stellato, WR
A 6-foot-1 receiver, Stellato has spent four seasons at Clemson. He was a four-star recruit from Florida out of high school. But he played in just two games in 2021 and missed the 2022 season due to injury. That said, over the past two years, Stellato has caught 63 passes for 585 yards.
Stellato saw more playing time in 2023 (12 games) than in 2024 (nine games). He'll have two remaining years of eligibility and has chosen Kentucky as his next portal destination. Given that the Wildcats lost Dane Key and Barion Brown to the portal, Stellato should get day-one opportunities for playing time in Lexington.
1. Tre Williams, DT
A four-star recruit who hailed from Connecticut, Williams's production in five years at Clemson has been relatively quiet. Williams has a total of 35 tackles with 10 tackles for loss and four sacks. His 2024 season included 14 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Williams has already chosen Michigan for his final season of eligibility. His 305-pound size makes Williams an important prospect. Perhaps the flashes of potential he has shown at Clemson will grow into a fully impressive season with the Wolverines.
