Clemson vs Pitt: Preview
Clemson is a 10-point favorite while the over/under is set at 53.5 points.
The Tigers returned to the win column with a road win over Virginia Tech after the upset loss to Louisville. Clemson still has a chance at playing in the ACC championship game but will need to win out and have some things go their way.
Despite the win, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says there is room for improvement.
“The second half was a different story,” said Swinney, via AllClemsonTigers. “It was a lot of heart and grit on those guys… Cade really sparked us in the second half with his will to go win. Still, plenty that we have to work on… too many plays where we didn’t have all 11 guys getting their job done.”
Clemson is led by Cade Klubnik who has thrown for 2,275 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. Phil Mafah has rushed for 981 yards and 8 touchdowns and Antonio Williams has caught 40 passes for 468 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Defensively, Avieon Terrell and Ashton Hampton have 2 interceptions, T.J. Parker has 5 sacks, and Wade Woodaz has 61 tackles.
Pitt, meanwhile, is on a two-game losing streak and was upset at home to Virginia.
“Obviously a disappointing outing. Disappointing in a lot of different ways,” head coach Pat Narduzzi said after the loss, via Pitt News. “We had our chances to win the football game and we didn’t get it done...
“Our guys will stick together. It’s what we do. It’s a game of football,” Narduzzi said. “We have to bounce back against a really good Clemson football team.”
The Panthers are led by Eli Holstein who has thrown for 2,174 yards, 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Holstein left the Virginia game after a hit to the head in the third quarter.
Desmon Reid has rushed for 670 yards and 4 touchdowns and Konata Mumpfield has caught 35 passes for 560 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Defensively, LB Kyle Louis has 4 interceptions, Jimmy Scott, Rasheem Biles and Kyle Louis have five sacks, and Donovan McMillon has 77 tackles.
This will be a pivotal game for one team to keep slight hopes alive of playing in the ACC Championship game. However, Clemson's offense is legit while Pitt has been exposed a bit as of late.
Prediction: Clemson 34, Pitt 21
