Clemson vs Virginia Tech: Preview
The Clemson Tigers are 6.5-point favorites and the over/under is set at 52.5 points.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was disappointed with his team's performance against Louisville.
“I thought we got our butts kicked,” Swinney said on Tuesday, via On3. “I didn’t think we were physical enough, didn’t play hard enough, you burn the tape. It’s not what we’ve seen, you just burn the tape. That’s not what we’ve seen, our guys have played tough and physical. But I did not think we played anywhere near to the standard.”
Clemson is led by Cade Klubnik who has thrown for 2,064 yards, 21 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Phil Mafah has rushed for 853 yards and eight TDs, while Antonio Williams leads the way with 418 receiving yards and six TDs.
Defensively, the Tigers are led by Aveion Terrell's two interceptions, T.J. Parker's five sacks and Wade Woodaz's 60 tackles.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech entered the season with expectations of competing for the ACC title; however, that has not been the case. The Hokies led 21-3 in the third quarter, but blew it and lost to Syracuse in OT.
"We made too many mistakes, too many penalties to beat a good team on the road," Hokies coach Brent Pry said after the game. "I got to be better than that, coaches need to be better than that.''
The Hokies are led by Kyron Drones who has thrown for 1,447 yards, 10 TDs and five interceptions, while Bhayshul Tuten has rushed for 951 yards and 12 TDs.
Defensively, Mansoor Delane has three interceptions, Antwaun Powell-Ryland has 12 sacks and Jaden Keller has 56 tackles.
Both Clemson and Virginia Tech have had disappointing seasons, but Saturday's game is a good spot for the Tigers to get a big win.
Clemson will be motivated to come out strong as Klubnik should have a strong game. The Tigers will get the win and will bounce back after a disappointing performance against Louisville.
Prediction: Clemson 34, Virginia Tech 21
