If you're new to the phenomenon that is EA Sports College Football 25, you might be wondering about its difficulty. What if the game is too easy? Or is way too difficult? Fortunately, there's an answer. EA Sports built in four difficulty levels, which should gear the game toward any audience.

Here's a closer look at all four levels to let players know exactly what to expect.

#1. Freshman

The first and easiest level of the game to master is Freshman difficulty. New players and young kids might do best at this level. The gameplay is simple, the computer's AI is almost non-existent and even players who don't know what they're doing can figure the game out pretty quickly.

Even for those who are acquainted with the EA catalog, this game is quite different. Freshman level is an easy way to get a preliminary understanding of game controls without having to worry about the nuances of the gameplay that will make later levels difficult.

#2. Varsity

Once the freshman level gets a little too simple, varsity difficulty is the next step up. The gameplay should still be fairly easy, but it can provide a reasonable challenge for non-expert players, particularly if they stray away from the game's top handful of teams. The AI will start to make an appearance, meaning that play calls need to be situationally appropriate and not "everybody go deep" on every play.

For people with some prior football video game experience but a casual approach, varsity mode is at least a good starting place and it might be the easiest way to have a fun gaming experience.

#3. All-American

It's a big step up after varsity to the All-American difficulty level. The gameplay will get considerably more complicated. Being successful on offense will require at least a rudimentary understanding of coverages and defensive strategy. Meanwhile, tackling will be more difficult and offenses will take advantage of poor play calls.

The All-American level is a solid challenge for all but the best players. It's perhaps the best gameplay experience for veteran players who are willing to grind to get the full gameplay experience.

#4. Heisman

Finally, there's the ultimate challenge of College Football 25. Being successful on Heisman level will require a mastery of offensive and defensive strategy, in-depth knowledge of the playbook and likely nerves of steel. Opponents will be merciless, grinding away at any mistakes and weaknesses.

Heisman level is the game's ultimate difficulty. Few players will be competitive on the Heisman level, and fewer still will be able to compete without using one of the handful of top teams in the game.
