With the college football postseason down to a single game, it's a good time to assess the various conferences' bowl performances. Obviously, CFP title game entrant Notre Dame is something of a wildcard as the Irish (along with UConn) were a bowl team without a conference.
However, for the rest of the leagues, with Ohio State's final fate to be determined, a reckoning can be made. Here's a rundown of the major conferences before the finale of the CFP run:
NCAA Conference Bowl Game Record 2024-25
Big Ten Bowl Record
The Big Ten are 10-6 pending Ohio State's final game performance. The league with the most teams has picked up the most wins and is the last conference standing.
The Big Ten is 5-3 in the CFP, with a first-round loss for Indiana and a zero-sum quarterfinal battle between Ohio State and Oregon. Penn State fell in the CFP semifinals.
SEC Bowl Record
The SEC went 8-7 in bowl action this season. For the second year in a row, the SEC hasn't had a team in the national championship game. The league was 2-3 in the CFP, with only Texas picking up a CFP win. After a pair of those wins, the Longhorns lost to Ohio State in the CFP semifinals.
ACC Bowl Record
The underperformers of the bowl season, the ACC had a brutal 2-11 bowl mark. Only Syracuse and Louisville picked up postseason victories. The league was also 0-2 in the CFP and with SMU getting the last spot in the CFP, that wasn't welcome news.
Big 12 Bowl Record
The Big 12 posted a 4-5 bowl mark. League champion Arizona State got the lone CFP spot and played Texas to overtime before falling. Given the ACC's underperformance, it's fair to wonder if the Big 12 might not have been more deserving of a second squad in the CFP.
AAC Bowl Record
The top winning percentage of the bwol season goes to the AAC, with a 6-2 mark in postseason play. The league had no CFP representatives but certainly built a case moving forward.
MAC Bowl Record
Finishing just below the AAC, the MAC posted a 5-2 bowl mark. Again, no CFP teams were included, but it's notable that the MAC had almost as many postseason wins as the ACC and Big 12 combined.
Sun Belt Bowl Record
A 4-3 mark was the fate of Sun Belt teams in postseason action. It's neither one of the best or worst marks in the bowl season.
CUSA Bowl Record
CUSA posted a meager 1-4 mark in postseason play. Only Sam Houston State's win in the New Orleans Bowl kept the league from a post-season shutout.
Mountain West Bowl Record
Despite getting Boise State into the CFP, the Mountain West also went just 1-4. The league's sole winner was UNLV in the LA Bowl.
Pac 12 Bowl Record
With only two teams, the Pac 12's 0-1 mark is certainly understandable. Washington State lost to Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl.
