The college football national championship is an annual competition where top teams from several colleges compete to earn the prestigious title of national champions. A committee overlooks the performance of the teams throughout the season including, win-loss records, opponents, and their overall performance. The committee decides which teams are eligible to play in the big games where they compete for the championship title.

Twelve teams were selected for the playoffs in the 2024-25 season with the five highest-ranked conference champions getting an automatic bye. Several Conferences have won the championship in college football multiple times. The 2025 College Football National Championship game is scheduled to take place on January 20, 2025, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
