Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III shared a bold prediction on X (formerly Twitter), calling Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty the Heisman frontrunner. Griffin lauded Jeanty's ability to not only capitalize on large openings provided by his blockers but also make jaw-dropping plays even when defenders appeared to have him locked down.

Jeanty is breaking tackles, whether it’s in the backfield or 20 yards down the field, turning routine runs into something “SPECTACULAR.”

In just five games, he recorded 1,031 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on just 95 carries, tying an FBS record. His present rushing yardage ranks eighth most in FBS history, per ESPN.

However, Jeanty’s 1,000-yard milestone became the subject of heated debate among fans. Some questioned the level of competition he’s faced:

"I need to see him against a real team," one fan tweeted.
"Wish he played better competition. But yes, 1,000 yards already is WILD," said another.
"Your colleagues are not voting for a mountain west player who will play no more top competition. Let’s be real RG3. However he will get a invite," another wrote.

Others were more focused on his consistency.

"2 games where he gets pulled at half…still almost put up 200!" a fan pointed out.
"Ashton #HEI2MAN Jeanty is him! Best player in the nation!," a fan tweeted.
"Damn right. He’s a phenomenal talent. Stock is soaring right now," one wrote.

Jeanty, who is one of the top running back prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, made a huge statement during Boise State’s 56-45 win over Georgia Southern on Aug. 31. The third-year star rushed for a staggering 267 yards and six touchdowns.

On Oct. 5, in his latest performance against Utah State, Jeanty ran for an outstanding 186 yards on just 13 carries, finding the end zone three times. His explosive 63- and 75-yard touchdown runs were a clear display of his speed and power, propelling Boise State to a dominant 62-30 win.

Ashton Jeanty receives flurry of recognition already

Despite the debate on the internet, Ashton Jean’s accolades speak for themselves.

He’s been named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week twice (Sept. 4 and Oct. 1, 2024), the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week (Sept. 4), the East-West Shrine Bowl Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 3), and the Senior Bowl Co-Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 2).

While some may question his competition, Ashton Jeanty might be making his case for the Heisman—and he’s just getting started.
