The 2024 college football season kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 24, with Week 0. There are seven games in total, with really only one marquee game on the schedule. Week 0, however, finally ends the lengthy offseason and allows college football fans to finally watch football again.
Ahead of Week 0, here are the three biggest games that fans shouldn't miss.
Top 3 games in college football opening weekend
#3. Delaware State vs. Hawaii, Aug. 25 at midnight ET
There aren't many marquee games in Week 0, but Delaware State vs. Hawaii could be a fun one to watch.
Delaware State was brutal last season, going 1-10, so this should be a blowout game for Hawaii.
The Rainbow Warriors are 38-point favorites but it is a late game for fans to end their Saturday night with, which is a college football tradition.
#2. Montana State vs. New Mexico, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. ET
Montana State goes on the road to play New Mexico in what should be a competitive game.
Montana State went 8-4 last season, while the Lobos went 4-8 and are looking to improve. New Mexico added an entirely new offensive line, which should help quarterback Devon Dampier.
The oddsmakers have Montana State as a 9-point favorite.
#1. FSU vs. Georgia Tech, Aug. 24 at 12 p.m. ET
Florida State and Georgia Tech are set to play against one another in Ireland and this is the biggest and most important game of the Week 0 schedule.
FSU is coming off winning the ACC and having an undefeated season but did not make the college football playoff. The Seminoles enter 2024 with something to prove and have a tough test against Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets went 7-6 last season and if Georgia Tech can pull off the upset, it will flip the ACC upside down.
FSU is an 11.5-point favorite against Georgia Tech.
