Colorado's Athletic director sets the record straight on Coach Prime's future as NFL rumors continue to intensify

Coach Prime has done a phenomenal job with the Colorado Buffaloes. The football legend has turned the franchise from a laughing stock to a genuine Top 25 team in the country.

Due to his elite performances with the Buffaloes, Deion Sanders has been linked with various NFL head coaching jobs. Hence, ahead of the Buffaloes college football season finale, the program's athletic director was asked about Coach Prime's future.

Rick George sets the record straight on Coach Prime's future

According to Brian Howell on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rick George, the Colorado athletic director, said that he and Deion Sanders have discussed a contract extension and will continue to discuss it after the season. After this year, Sanders has three years remaining on his original 5-year deal.

Hence, it might be long before the Buffaloes know about their iconic head coach's decision. For now, it's appropriate that they revel in the success of the 2024 college football season, which has seen them perform well beyond preseason expectations.

How have Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes performed this season?

Deion Sanders promised the Colorado Buffaloes faithful that last season's performances will never be repeated. He went the extra mile by utilizing the transfer portal and completing a mass overhaul of the playing roster.

The Buffaloes got the memo and started the season with an impressive win over the North Dakota State Bison. However, their momentum was slightly halted by a disappointing loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their second game of the season.

The Buffaloes then went on a three-game winning streak, improving their record to 4-1 for the season, before they suffered their second loss of the year against Kansas State University.

Following the loss to the Wildcats, the Buffaloes went on a remarkable four-game winning streak. That streak saw the team enter the AP Poll rankings for the first time since Coach Prime took over. While a loss against Kansas University ended their Big 12 Championship Game hopes, the Buffaloes fan base can see the season as a remarkable success.
