The No. 4 Texas Longhorns host the Colorado State Rams at Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium on Saturday in one of the compelling matchups in Week 1 of the 2024 college football season. The Longhorns are making their debut in the SEC and will aim for a national championship.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian will face the Rams, who are entering their third year under coach Jay Norvell. While Norvell's team has shown improvement each year, going from 3-9 in 2022 to 5-7 in 2023, the Rams need something special to upset the No.4 Longhorns.
Much of the game's final result will depend on which team’s quarterback can bring his A-game to the matchup.

Behind him, Arch Manning, the redshirt junior, will once again serve as the backup. Freshman Trey Owens is the third-string QB.

Quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi will lead the Rams’ offense. The San Diego native had a cherished debut season in 2023, completing 62% of his passes as he threw 3,460 yards and recorded 22 touchdowns. His ability to drive the Rams’ offense will be crucial as they face a strong Texas defense.
