Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes will head to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers on Saturday. Both teams are coming off a win in week 1, making it difficult to make a Colorado week 2 score projection. However, the scores of those games indicate it will be a high-scoring game.

Colorado week 2 score projection

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are underdogs headed into its matchup with Nebraska. The sportsbooks have Nebraska as a -270 favorite and Colorado as a +220 underdog. The spread is set at 7.5 points. So, the sportsbooks are projecting that Nebraska will win by a touchdown.

That seems like a reasonable outcome for these two teams. Both teams have formidable offenses, but Nebraska's running game, led by Emmett Johnson, is difficult to stop.

Having said that, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are perhaps Colorado's biggest assets. However, Nebraska outperforms Colorado on defense, giving it the advantage.

Colorado week 2 score projection: Nebraska 35, Colorado 28

Colorado vs Nebraska matchup: Buffaloes offense and Cornhuskers defense

Our Colorado Week 2 score projection considers the strong offense led by Hunter and Sanders.

Hunter is one of the top projected picks in the 2025 NFL draft and had a great week 1 performance, scoring three touchdowns. Sanders also had a great game, throwing four touchdowns and 445 yards. However, Nebraska did a great job on defense in week 1, holding UTEP to only seven points.

Colorado vs Nebraska matchup: Buffaloes defense and Cornhuskers offense

The Cornhuskers do not have the stand-out players that Colorado has, but it makes up for it with a balanced attack. Freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Where Nebraska stood out was in the run game, which generated three touchdowns.

Colorado struggled on defense last week against North Dakota State, and with a tougher opponent in Nebraska, it could happen again. Although Colorado got away with a win, it let ND State put up 26 points. Allowing that many points against a lesser team does not bode well for their chances against Nebraska.

Colorado vs Nebraska matchup: Special teams

It is hard to judge the special teams' units after one week, so it does not factor into our Colorado Week 2 score projection much.

Both did their jobs but nothing spectacular happened for either group in their games. They were both middle-of-the-pack teams last year. However, Colorado released last year's special teams coordinator, Trevor Reilly, so the team could have a different look this year.
