"Crawls into his shell": Ex-Alabama star issues a blunt reality check for Ohio State QB Will Howard

Will Howard has been a consistent part of the Ohio State Buckeyes 2024 side. The experienced quarterback helped the program to the expanded college football playoffs.

Before the Buckeyes' showdown against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, Alabama Crimson Tide product Damien Harris had this to say about Howard on CBS Sports HQ:

“When the lights are bright, Will Howard crawls into his shell and doesn't deliver. When I see him in the bright lights, you know what I see? Bad decision-making, an inept amount of arm talent, and simply turnovers. He turns the football over; he doesn’t put this program in a position to win."

Harris has played with some phenomenal quarterbacks during his collegiate and professional football career, and it’s clear he isn't a fan of Howard's football style.

However, Howard will get the chance to potentially change his mind as the Buckeyes take on the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the college football playoffs.

Will Howard is in his senior year and is enjoying his first season with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Before joining Ohio State, Howard was a member of Kansas State. He spent four seasons learning the ropes at Kansas State before the Buckeyes recruited him for the 2024 college football season.

Howard fulfilled the minimum expectations of being a starter at Ohio State as he led the team to the expanded college football playoffs. He achieved this by amassing a stat line of 2,860 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 12 games. He'll aim to make it a winning postseason debut when he faces off against the Volunteers in the playoffs.

The Buckeyes enter the first round of the playoffs as slight favorites against a program with a similar regular-season record.

The Volunteers aren't an easy team to play, but the Buckeyes faithful will fancy their chances. Expect Howard and Co. to leave it all on the Gridiron in this December postseason matchup.
