Dabo Swinney is the head coach of the Clemson Tigers, as of 2024. Swinney was appointed by the Clemson Tigers in 2009. Born on November 20, 1969, in Birmingham, Alabama, Swinney played college football as a wide receiver for the University of Alabama. During his collegiate career, he was awarded Academic All-SEC and SEC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. As a player, he contributed to Alabama's 1992 National Championship team. Swinney graduated in 1993 from Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and Business Administration and earned an MBA in 1995.
Dabo Swinney began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Alabama from 1993 to 1995. Swinney then coached some offensive positions, starting with tight ends and wide receivers at Alabama until 2000. In 2003, He began working for Clemson's coaching staff as a wide receivers coach before advancing to the assistant head coach position for a season in 2007 as an interim head coach. In 2009, he was named head coach and guided Clemson to multiple bowl games. Swinney helped Clemson qualify for the College Football Playoff National Championships in 2016 and 2018. He finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 180-47 and led Clemson to their 22nd ACC Championship.
