Dan Lanning is a college football coach and has been appointed by the Oregon Ducks football team since December 2021. Lanning is Oregon's 35th head coach and is one of the top young coaches in college football. He extensively worked on the defensive unit and developing players to the NFL standards. Before his career at Oregon, Lanning spent four years at the University of Georgia, where he served as defensive coordinator from 2019-2021. During his tenure, Georgia's defense was ranked in the top five programs in the nation, and they played a major role in helping Georgia capture the national championship in 2022. Lanning also coached at Arizona State, Sam Houston State, Alabama, and Memphis and is considered a relentless coach to ever step at the helm of college football. At Oregon, he won the SDCCU Holiday Bowl game in his first season and also won the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl game in 2024.

Dan Lanning started coaching with Pittsburgh as a graduate assistant in 2011. He spent the 2012 season at Arizona State, before moving to Sam Houston State as a defensive backs coach. He moved to Alabama in 2015 as the Defensive Graduate Assistant for the outside linebackers. In 2016, he transferred to Memphis, where he served as inside linebackers coach until 2017. In 2018, he was named outside linebackers coach at Georgia and later became the program's defensive coordinator in 2019. At Georgia, Lanning was an integral part of Georgia's defenses in college football. Under his guidance, the team went on to win a national title in 2022. He was twice a Broyles Award finalist, for being the nation's top assistant coach.
