Darius Taylor is an American running back who is plying his trade with the Minnesota Golden Gophers and will be back for his second season of college football. Taylor started his football career at Walled Lake Western High School where he enjoyed a strong junior and senior campaign. During his senior year, Taylor broke the high school record by rushing 268 times for 2,450 yards and 6 touchdowns in just 11 games. Taylor was ranked the No.12 running back in the nation and was listed as a four-star recruit by Rivals. The four-star running back from Detroit started his collegiate football journey with the Minnesota Golden Gophers despite considering offers from top programs like Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin.

In his freshman season, Taylor saw action in only six games and started only four for the Gophers. Last year, Taylor rushed 138 times for 799 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 133.2 rushing yards per game. But his rookie campaign was cut short after he sustained a leg injury against Northwestern and sat out for the remainder of the season. Taylor was one of the Gopher’s top rushers last season and is back at Minnesota for his second season of college football.
