Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter aren't just teammates on the Colorado Buffaloes; the duo has shared a brotherly relationship since they met at Jackson State. Hunter is Sanders' favorite target on the Gridiron, especially when the Colorado Buffaloes need a big catch to extend a play.
With the college football season about to end, Travis Hunter spoke to the Pivot Podcast about various topics in an episode released Tuesday. The Heisman Trophy favorite was asked how much it matters to be the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
"Oh, yeah, definitely it matters," Hunter said. "I want to be number one. First thing I said, that's the first thing I dreamed of, I ain't dream of winning the Heisman. I dreamed of being number one, you know, getting to that point and I was able to be number one and picked up the board. That's what I want to be. Why is it important to be the number one overall pick? I'm the first to do it in my family." (40:06 mark)
The two-way star made it intrinsically clear to Ryan Clark about his desire to hear his name off the board first. But has Hunter done enough to get that honor?
Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have been sensational in the 2024 college football season
Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders entered the 2024 college football season knowing it was likely their final chance to improve their draft stock. They've since done so in sensational ways.
Hunter has redefined what it means to be a two-way threat in college football. He dominated on the offensive side of the ball, amassing a stat line of 92 catches, 1,152 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. He also proved to be an equalizer on defense, racking up 31 tackles, 11 pass deflections, one forced fumble, and four interceptions.
