The Colorado Buffaloes are one of the best college football stories in recent years. Over a three-year span, the program went from 1-11 to 4-8 and finally 9-3. All it took was hiring a Hall of Famer as head coach and letting him cook for the Buffaloes to get back on the collegiate map.

Following the conclusion of the 2024 college football season, let's look at whether Colorado made the playoffs.

The Colorado Buffaloes did not make the playoffs

The Colorado Buffaloes did not make the expanded college football playoffs in 2024. They ended the regular season with a 9-3 record, and while they finished in the Top 25, they fell short of competing for the greatest prize in collegiate sports. However, the school's performances were a breath of fresh air and proof that with the right planning, the program can only go up.

The Buffaloes had numerous statement wins during the 2024 regular season. They were one of the dominant teams in the Big 12 conference as Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter cemented their status as likely top-three picks in the next NFL draft.

Head coach Deion Sanders also improved his stock after college football analysts seemingly wrote him off after last year's disastrous 4-8 record. The program has thrived in Coach Prime's second year on the job and is one to watch for the foreseeable future.

What next for Deion Sanders' crew?

Deion Sanders and Co. must prepare for an Alamo Bowl game against the BYU Cougars. The 9-3 Colorado Buffaloes will play the 10-2 BYU Cougars in their last game of 2024.

Coach Prime has indicated that both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter will play in the Bowl Game, their last collegiate football game.

Shedeur Sanders is widely considered the QB1 in the 2025 NFL draft, and he will likely play for the Las Vegas Raiders or New York Giants at the next level. Travis Hunter is the talk of collegiate sports as the two-way star just won the 2024 Heisman Trophy. Hunter will also be taken early in the draft, and it'll be interesting to see what position(s) he plays at the professional level.

The Buffaloes will look to give their fans something to celebrate as the new year approaches. Their aim is to end the year with a 10-3 record, and they're currently training hard to achieve that goal.
