In January 2024, Pavia transferred to Vanderbilt University under head coach Clark Lea. In his first season with the Commodores, he led the team to an upset victory over No. 1 Alabama—Vanderbilt's first win over a top-5 team in program history. In that game, Pavia completed an impressive 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns while adding another 56 yards on the ground. His ability to perform under pressure has earned him accolades such as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and recognition on various national player watchlists.
