Week 10 of the college football season is underway, but some teams like the No. 14-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (6-2) will not be playing. Most schools in college football get two open weeks to rest and recover, and this week the Crimson Tide have one of their weeks off.

The off comes at a good time for the Crimson Tide, as they will be looking to take some momentum from their 34-0 win over No. 25 Missouri into their next matchup against No. 16 LSU. They will have plenty of time to practice and plan before visiting the Tigers next Saturday.

Does Alabama play today?

No, the Crimson Tide do not play today or at all this weekend. They have an open week, which means they do not suit up in Week 10. The Crimson Tide will be back in action next week against the LSU Tigers on Nov 9.

Heading into their next matchup, the Crimson Tide will be looking to build positive momentum after an impressive win over Missouri. Before the win, they had three consecutive underwhelming performances. The Tide started by losing 40-35 to Vanderbilt, then narrowly beating South Carolina 27-25 and then falling to No. 7 Tennessee 24-17.

Can Alabama make it to the College Football Playoff this season?

Yes, it is possible for the Crimson Tide to make the playoffs, but it is not going to be as easy as many expected earlier in the season. In the new 12-team playoff, the five highest-ranked conference champions automatically make the cut, with the four highest-ranked of those champions earning a bye through the first round.

The next seven teams are determined by the CFP selection committee. The playoff spots go to the next seven highest-ranked teams, regardless of their position in their respective conferences.

The Crimson Tide are extremely unlikely to win the SEC with their 3-2 conference record, sitting two wins behind conference-leading No. 10 Texas A&M, which is 5-0 in conference play.

Alabama will need to make the postseason as one of the seven extra teams to enter the playoffs. To do that, it will need to become a top-12 team in the country. It is not a big jump for the Crimson Tide, but they cannot afford many more losses if they want to make the 2024 College Football Playoff.
