The release day for EA Sports College Football 25 is fast approaching, and fans are familiarizing themselves with the features of the video game. One of the features fans are enquiring about the game is the availability of “cross-play.” We provide a detailed answer to that.

Does EA Sports College Football 25 have cross-play?

According to EA Sports, cross-play will be available on College Football 25 when it gets released this summer. This is a modern gaming technology that refers to the ability of players using different video game hardware to play together simultaneously.

The publisher made it known that cross-play will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the consoles on which the game will be available. Players will be able to use cross-play in modes like Road to the College Football Playoff, College Football Ultimate Team and Play a Friend.

Fans will not be able to set up a cross-play online dynasty in College Football 25,, though, which is a bit of a disappointment. However, for players interested in setting up an online dynasty with friends on the same platform, it will support up to 32 different players in one dynasty.

Nonetheless, many believe that there's still a possibility of getting cross-play dynasties on the video game in the future. That, though, might not be on the upcoming edition of the game.

Was cross-play available on NCAA Football 14?

While College Football 25 will have cross-play, the feature was not available on NCAA 14, the last release of the series. That's practically due to the reluctance of console manufacturers, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft Gaming, to allow the same on their platform.

Sony Interactive Entertainment had restricted PlayStation 4 cross-platform play with other consoles until September 2018, creating a divide among players of popular games. It also did not allow the feature in all of its previous console releases.

Sony changed their stance and began beta-testing cross-platform play for Fortnite in September 2018. By October 2019, Sony announced that they would allow any developers to support cross-platform play, creating some relief for players.

While Microsoft Gaming has explored cross-play as far back as 2007, it was only available on its Xbox and Windows platforms for many years. That left out all other consoles, especially as Sony continues to remain reluctant to adopt the technology of its console.

That's now a story of the past, though, as gamers will be able to play against one another on College Football 25 using different consoles when the game is released on July 19.
