The No. 18 Ole Miss Rebels (5-2, 1-2 SEC) kicked off their season with four straight wins, but things have taken a turn. In their last three games, they’ve suffered tough losses to conference rivals Kentucky and LSU, putting their season in jeopardy under fifth-year head coach Lane Kiffin.
With only five games left, here's a closer look at who they’ll face next as they look to bounce back.
Does Ole Miss Rebels play today?
No, the Ole Miss won't play today, as they are enjoying a bye in Week 8. The Rebels will play again next week against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff for that game is scheduled at noon ET from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford.
Can Ole Miss Rebels make it to the College Football Playoff this season?
Ole Miss needs to win all five of its remaining games to stay in contention for the playoff race. However, it won’t be easy as each game is against conference rivals, including a challenging Week 11 matchup against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs.
Ole Miss is still recovering from last week’s loss to the LSU Tigers, where the game went into overtime after a 23-23 tie. While Ole Miss kicker Caden Davis nailed a stunning 57-yard field goal to take a 26-23 lead in overtime, LSU responded with a game-winning 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Garrett Nussmeier to wide receiver Kyren Lacy, sealing a 29-26 win.
Head coach Lane Kiffin was visibly frustrated with the loss, knowing how crucial the game was, especially after being so close to securing the win.
Similarly, when they played the unranked Kentucky Wildcats earlier, the Rebels were leading 17-13 into the third quarter. But tight end Josh Kattus' two-yard rushing touchdown turned into a nightmare for Ole Miss, who lost despite being heavily favored before the matchup.
The Rebels have been losing momentum in crucial moments of games, something they can’t afford moving forward. If they want to stay in the playoff hunt, they will need to win all their remaining games, but it won’t be an easy road ahead.
