The UCF Knights have managed to put up a three-game winning streak this season. Led by fourth-year coach Gus Malzahn, the Knights are currently the top team in the Big 12.
Let us look at whether Malzahn and his team are scheduled for a showdown in Week 4.
Does UCF play today?
No, the UCF Knights do not have a game scheduled for Week 4 of the 2024 college football season. This will be their open week, which means that Malzahn and his team can rejuvenate and reiterate their game plan for the rest of the season.
Following this open week, the Knights will prepare for a Week 5 Big 12 showdown against Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Following a Rocky Mountain Showdown victory against the Colorado State Rams last week, the Buffs will take on Baylor on Saturday. They will be looking to extend their winning streak to two games in Week 4.
For Gus Malzahn and his team, they managed to secure a 35-34 victory against the TCU Horned Frogs in their first Big 12 matchup of the season. Quarterback KJ Jefferson, who transferred from Arkansas this offseason, has built quite the chemistry with the offense. He has recorded a total of 563 passing yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
The UCF Knights are yet to make it to the College Football Playoff under Gus Malzahn. So if they do manage to continue their exemplary performance on the gridiron, they could be an underdog contender for a berth in the new 12-team playoffs.
