Week 10 of the college football season is getting started, but the Utah Utes (4-4) will not be participating. They are on their second and final open week of the season.
Does Utah play today?
No, the Utes do not play today or at all during Week 10. They started the season 4-0 but have since lost four games in a row and fallen out of the playoff race.
Part of the reason for the Utes' fall has been injuries, most notably quarterback Cam Rising. While the Utes were a team that was in the AP Top 25 Poll for the first several weeks of the season, they now sit far outside of the rankings.

Utah's chances of making it to the College Football Playoff this season
It is extremely unlikely for the Utes to make the 2024 playoffs. They had a chance earlier in the year when they started 4-0, but no team that has lost four games in a row is likely to make the playoffs.
In the new 12-team playoff format, the five highest-ranked conference champions make the playoffs, with the four highest-ranked of those teams earning a bye through the first round. The Utes have a mere slim chance to win the Big 12 as they have a 1-4 conference record. The leader, No. 9 BYU, is 5-0.
The next seven slots go to the next seven highest-ranked teams as determined by the CFP selection committee. Since the Utes are not ranked now and already have four losses on their record, they're unlikely to reach the position they need to qualify for the playoffs.
Additionally, the Utes have a tough schedule to close the season that includes matchups against BYU, No. 23 Colorado, and No. 11 Iowa State.
