College Football fans of all ages got the best possible news on Friday with the announcement of the release date of the EA Sports version of the football game that has straddled generations. The game's trailer was splashed on various EA Sports' social media channels alongside an official release date of July 19.
The various game modes were also revealed, with the game being compatible with PlayStation and Xbox X/S. The game has the added benefit of having familiar announcers like ESPN's Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling games.
College Football 25 game modes explained
One of the most anticipated aspects of this contentious game is Dynasty Mode, which will allow players to create a coach from scratch and take over any of the programs. The player is then able to recruit prospects from both high school and for the first time in franchise history, the transfer portal.
In Dynasty Mode, team builder allows players to create a program from scratch with 32 players and hurdle all the challenges to go for glory.
The Road to Glory Mode involves players of College Football 25 being able to create a player from scratch and embark on a journey through college as a student-athlete, including campus life. This also comes with the current reality of college sports which involves being able to transfer programs via the transfer portal.
The popular game has been made to be as realistic as possible. Home-field advantage will count in a big way and away teams will feel that disadvantage. The away team will have inconsistent performances and certain pre-play functions and icons will not be available to level the playing field.
The Road to the College Football Playoff Mode will be available across both Xbox and PlayStation in which players try to lead their teams to the coveted CFP spots.
In the recently released trailer, EA Sports laid out the challenges that players will face in the game.
“Will you represent your university, or take a power school to climb the polls?” EA said in its release (via On3). “Earn rank by upsetting the toughest opponents and securing the votes you need to progress and level up divisions. Play your way into the playoffs and battle for the national championship.”
The Ultimate Team Mode will allow players to go on a joy ride and stockpile both current and former players into one team, similar to the Madden Series. With bought and won in-game credit, players can explore this mode further.
