The College Football Playoff semifinals are set, with Texas facing Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl and Notre Dame taking on Penn State in the Orange Bowl.

Texas advanced by defeating Clemson and Arizona State, while Ohio State secured its spot with a dominant win over Oregon. On the other side, Penn State overcame SMU and Boise State, and Notre Dame outpaced Indiana and Georgia

As the stakes rise in the race for the title, Fox Sports commentator Nick Wright has made a bold prediction about the winner of the national championship. During Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First,” Wright declared Notre Dame as his pick for the national championship.

“I think Notre Dame is going to win the national championship,” Wright stated.

His statement surprised co-host and former NFL wide receiver Greg Jennings, who responded by indicating that Ohio State is his favorite. Wright defended his pick:

“Ryan Day would find a way to lose it,” Wright added. "By the way, the fact that Ohio State or Texas is playing in the national championship game is dope, and the fact that it's not one of those fugazi Notre Dame teams that we've seen in the national championship before."
