The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets still have one game left this season. While they did not qualify for the College Football Playoff, they are eligible for a bowl game and will thus play Vanderbilt on Dec. 27 in the Birmingham Bowl.
While bowl season is here, many fans have started to look ahead to transfer portal season. The Yellow Jackets will be one of the biggest victims of the transfer portal, as star wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. has entered the transfer portal and is expected to leave Georgia Tech.
As a result, the Yellow Jackets must prepare by looking for options in the transfer portal.
Top 5 recruits for Georgia Tech to look at in the transfer portal
The transfer portal window closes on Dec. 28, giving Georgia Tech a little over a week to recruit. However, another window opens in April for 10 days. These are five players the Yellow Jackets could look to recruit.
#1 Eric Rivers
With Eric Singleton Jr. expected to transfer, Georgia Tech must look at other top wide receivers to replace him. Florida International wide receiver Eric Rivers is an interesting option. He reportedly visited Georgia Tech and Nebraska earlier this week, so there could be mutual interest.
Although Rivers started his career as a defensive back, he has blossomed into a top-level wide receiver. This season, he had 62 receptions for 1172 yards and 12 touchdowns.
#2 KC Concepcion
If Georgia Tech wants to replace Singleton Jr., it could not do much better than KC Concepcion. The NC State wide receiver entered the transfer portal last week after having a down season. He had an excellent breakout season as a true freshman but took a step back in his sophomore year.
Although Georgia Tech is not a top destination for top recruits, some of the top teams in the nation might not be interested in a wide receiver like Concepcion who took a step back this season. The Yellow Jackets might be able to leverage their position to recruit Concepcion as a possible No. 1 option.
#3 Jordan Dwyer
Another top wide receiver option would be Idaho's Jordan Dwyer. He has reportedly generated a lot of interest from Power Four programs. However, the Yellow Jackets might be able to offer an appealing position as a No. 1 wide receiver, something other schools might not be able to offer.
Dwyer had an excellent 2024 campaign, registering 78 receptions for 1192 yards and 12 touchdowns.
#4 Princewill Umanmielen
The Yellow Jackets are in danger of losing not only a top wide receiver but also their top edge rusher as Romello Height has entered the transfer portal. One of the top options in the transfer portal is Nebraska's Princewill Umanmielen. He spent the past two seasons in Nebraska where he registered 35 tackles, including eight for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
#5 Patrick Payton
The Yellow Jackets also have several players on their defensive line entering the transfer portal, so they need to find replacements. Florida State defensive lineman Patrick Payton is a good option.
He has been a strong starter for the Seminoles for the past three years. However, with the Seminoles having a disastrous season this year, he has opted to transfer. The former four-star recruit has 109 tackles, 16 sacks and three forced fumbles.
