It is the season of declaring what is next for the future of college football stars as the bowl season winds down. Some players are gearing up for a return to college while others are announcing they are heading to the NFL.
On Monday, Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jalon Walker made the announcement that he is going to be entering the 2025 NFL draft.
People on social media began to speculate what teams are going to be interested in Walker in the upcoming draft.
"So Panthers pick at 8" One user commented
"No way he'll be on the board. But dude just looks like a Steeler. Putting him on the other side of Watt would be lethal." Another person replied to the post
Other people were trying to figure out which defenses would be the best fit for Jalon Walker since he has shown the ability to play as a traditional linebacker as well as a pass-rusher in college football.
"Do you think he can be a full time EDGE on a 4-3 scheme?" Someone asked in the replies
"Where do you see himm playing in the NFL? OLB in a 3-4 or could he be a hand in the dirt edge rusher?" Another commenter pondered
Jalon Walker recorded 61 total tackles (38 solo, 23 assisted) with 6.5 sacks, a pair of fumble recoveries and two pass deflections this season.
Which team would be the best fit for Jalon Walker in the 2025 NFL draft?
With the top half of the 2025 NFL draft order situated as the regular season is officially over, we can start to pinpoint some landing spots. The clear one that makes a lot of sense would be the New York Jets with the seventh pick. The teams ahead of them (Tennessee, New York, Las Vegas) are going to need a quarterback and others are going to target other players.
The Jets defense looked entirely different after coach Robert Saleh was sacked and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich took over as coach. With Haason Reddick unlikely to return next season, Jalon Walker could step directly into a starting edge position while also providing backup at linebacker.
