The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has sparked outrage among Texas Longhorns fans after announcing that their iconic live steer mascot, Bevo XV, will not attend the highly anticipated College Football Playoff game against Arizona State on New Year’s Day.

Citing limited sideline space at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, officials deemed it unsafe to accommodate the 1,700-pound mascot with his 58-inch horn span. This marks the second time Bevo has been excluded from games at the Atlanta venue. Similar constraints prevented his presence during Texas’ SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia earlier this month.

Matt Garvey, the Peach Bowl’s vice president of communications, clarified the decision.

“It doesn’t look like we’re goin͏g t͏o͏ have ͏the͏ space that we need to erect͏ his enclosure. Fo͏r the͏ safety ͏of͏ Be͏vo, th͏e play͏er͏s, the m͏e͏dia, a͏nd th͏e ͏ca͏mera cre͏ws, it doesn’t look lik͏e we’re going͏ to be able to accomm͏odate him,” he said.

Despite assurances of prioritizing safety, the move has disappointed Longhorns fans, who feel the absence of Bevo diminishes the essence of the game.

One Texas supporter called the decision: “Well that’s some grade A bulls**t.”

Some criticized Chick-fil-A for missing a prime marketing opportunity.

“Chick-fil-A just fumbled a marketing opportunity,” one fan wrote.
“It seems like he doesn’t want to go anyways. They are pretty much forcing him out🤣,” a fan chimed.
“Bro is relieved,” another fan defended Bevo.
“This is corny as hell, Bevo just be chillin lmao,” a fan said.
"Eat-Mor-Chikin. Rare fail by CFA," a fan tweeted.
