Graham Mertz is a quarterback for the Florida Gators who was born on December 6, 2000, in Overland Park, Kansas, U.S. to Ron and Amy Mertz. Mertz spent his first two years of high school at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas. The 6 ft 3 inch player transferred to Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kansas before his junior year kicked off. As a junior, Graham led Blue Valley North to a Class 6A state championship. Additionally, as a senior, he led the side to state runners-up.
Some of his achievements include being named the finalist for the Elite 11 quarterback competition in 2018. Graham was also named Gatorade Kansas Football Player of the Year. He committed to the University of Wisconsin–Madison in October 2017 to play college football. In 2023, Mertz transferred to the Florida Gators in the spring semester, playing as their starting quarterback. The Wisconsin Badgers player concluded the season with 2,903 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and 3 interceptions before he returned for Florida in the following season.
Unfortunately, the player suffered a season-ending injury and was announced to miss the rest of the year due to a knee injury.
