Auburn University's Tigers play in the FBS, NCAA and Western Division of the SEC. In their history of 132 years, they have two claimed and four unclaimed national titles, 10 division titles and 16 conference titles, with an all-time record of 799 wins, 471 defeats and 47 ties.

The Auburn Tigers have played in 45 bowl games and won 24 of them, with the most recent being in 2018 against Purdue under the guidance of Gus Malzahn. As of April 2024, their 28th head coach is Hugh Freeze, who is in his first season.

In the 2023 NFL draft, five players were selected from Auburn, with linebacker Derick Hall for the Seattle Seahawks in the second round and sixth pick, while kicker Anders Carlson for the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round and 30th pick.

Since the National Football League (NFL) started holding drafts in 1936, 295 players from the Auburn Tigers have been drafted; this comprises four overall first picks and 30 first round picks.

Auburn Tigers History

In 1892, Auburn officially started playing collegiate football. The Tigers were among the first teams to enter the Southeastern Conference in 1932; however, when the conference was split up in 1992, the Tigers started playing in the West Division.

Auburn has had 12 undefeated seasons and 44 postseason bowl appearances, including 12 historically major bowl spots. They are the 13th most successful FBS program ever, with over 798 victories, including two national titles in 1957 and 2010.

Three Tigers have won the Heisman Trophy: Cam Newton, the quarterback, in 2010, Pat Sullivan, the quarterback in 1971, and running back Bo Jackson, in 1985. Furthermore, Auburn has produced 31 consensus All-American individuals.

12 individuals from Auburn have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, eight of whom were student-athletes and the other four were head coaches John Heisman, Mike Donahue, Ralph Jordan, and Pat Dye. Jordan coached Auburn from 1951 to 1975, during which time the Tigers won the most games of any Auburn coach, 176, including their first national title.

Alabama Crimson Tide is Auburn's in-state opponent and its fiercest rival; considered to be one of the greatest rivalries in sports, their face off is called the Iron Bowl and it takes place every year.
