After losing to Jim Harbaugh's Michigan in the Rose Bowl showdown in 2023, Nick Saban announced his retirement after 17 glorious years with the Crimson Tide on Jan. 11, 2024.

After Nick Saban, former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer took the reins in his hands. Going into the 2024 college football season, DeBoer will be under the spotlight as Nick Saban's replacement.

Saban stepped down as head coach after a nearly 50-year coaching run, during which he inspired many individuals, including DeBoer.

In a recent conversation with Greg McElroy on the channel "ESPN College Football," DeBoer discussed the things he's learned from Saban over the years:

"What I've always seen from afar, what I've always admired, just everything about the program and the recent 15 to 20 years under Coach Saban there... I've stolen a lot of things...
"It can be the X's and O's of offense or defensive play, or just, you know, kind of those quotes, those sayings, those things that get uploaded to social media all the time, that you take from, that you can use with your own football team." (0:50)

Jalen Milroe's take on Kalen DeBoer's leadership style

Alabama QB1 Jalen Milroe opened up about the key differences in Nick Saban's coaching style compared to Kalen DeBoer's.

Milroe talked about how the Alabama room went quiet listening to the footsteps of coach Saban, which wasn't the case when the former Washington head coach arrived at Tuscaloosa.

In an interview with "Bussin' with the Boys," Jalen Milroe shared a hilarious story depicting the contrast in both coaches' styles.

"I will say that was different. I'm going to be honest with you, it was much different. You know, when coach Saban came in a room and you're talking. ... be quiet. You see coach, shush," Milroe said.
"Imma be real, Coach DeBoer came in, everybody kept talking, I'm like, 'What ya'll doing?' Everybody kept talking, I ain't gonna lie. They just laughing... and keeping on the conversation," he added.
"But nothing, nothing negative, but that's just a difference. I'll say it's just like modern to what it it now as far as influencing the guys now in this generation... allowing them to be themselves on an everyday basis and not being too tight," he clarified. (16:45)
