Kirk Herbstreit's dog, Ben, was a beloved figure in college football. Ben died earlier in November after a battle with leukemia.
Kirk Herbstreit recently revealed that the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, wrote a letter of condolence to him after he lost Ben.
The letter read:
"Dear Kirk, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Ben. Ben brought a lot of comfort and unconditional love to millions of Americans. In your most joyful moments and grief-stricken days, he was there, sensitive to every unspoken feeling and emotion. I know what it is like to lose a beloved pet, and I sincerely hope you can find some comfort in cherishing the beautiful memories you shared with Ben. He was a good boy.”
Kirk Herbstreit thanked President Biden for the letter in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Following Ben's death on November 7, 2024, the college football world paid its respects to the much-loved golden retriever. ESPN, collegiate football teams, former players and coaches, celebrities, and more took to social media to share kind parting messages to Kirk Herbstreit and Ben.
