The Arizona State Sun Devils were in a tied duel with the Texas Longhorns late in the fourth quarter of a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game on Wednesday, but earlier in the game, they experienced plenty of frustration.
While attempting to run the football on fourth-and-2 in the beginning of the second quarter, Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo was stopped short. Apparently frustrated, he shoved a teammate while getting helped up from the ground.
Fans voiced their opinion about Skattebo pushing away his teammate on social media.
"I got no skin on either of these teams, but when the dude said that s**t about 'nobody can stop me' I wanted to see him get stuffed every play," one person commented.
"It went to his large head fast, if you watch college football you expected this to happen. One decent rb can't overcome a good defense," another person posted.
People continued to share the common sentiment regarding Cam Skattebo's attitude affecting his play and the team as a whole.
"Took his over on 'teammates shoved out of frustation' at 3.5. Looking for 2 more in the second half," someone jokingly posted.
"What poor sportsmanship, they need to sack this dude." another commenter replied.
Although Arizona State trailed 17-3 at halftime, the Peach Bowl was tied at 24-24 with 5:00 remaining after Skattebo ran for a two-point conversion after scoring on a 2-yard touchdown run. He threw a 42-yard pass to Malik McClain to get the Sun Devils within 24-16 with 6:31 remaining.
Not the only Cam Skattebo drama on Wednesday
Cam Skattebo has not been keeping his emotions under wraps throughout the game as he has been fired up. Later on in the second quarter, the Sun Devils attempted to go for it on four-and-10 with a little more than five minutes remaining. Quarterback Sam Leavitt wound up taking a sack and turning the football over on downs, and Skattebo was upset about the outcome of the drive.
The cameras caught Cam Skattebo on the bench after the drive and showed him frustrated. Depending on your opinion of Skattebo and the Sun Devils, it can be viewed as having heart and belief in the program or just a player being frustrated.
