Conference realignment has been a staple of the college football landscape in the last few years. Fans will now get to experience this in the highly anticipated return of the video game.

How does conference realignment work on EA Sports College Football 25?

The EA Sports College Football 25 allows players to switch conferences in the Dynasty Mode. At a time when the college football world is experiencing significant realignment, this brings a touch of realism to the video game and offers players flexibility in the coaching career mode.

“You will be able to make adjustments to conference membership and rules when starting a dynasty as well as at the end of each off-season, giving you total flexibility to change things,” EA Sports wrote in a deep-dive explanation of the dynasty mode.

Conferences have a maximum and minimum membership requirement in the College Football 25 Dynasty Mode. A conference is not allowed to go beyond 20 members while it can have a membership of as low as four. The membership count will be a crucial factor in realignment.

“You can reduce any conference to as few as four members, and grow any conference to as large as 20 schools. [This is] in addition to moving schools into different conferences,” EA Sports explained.

Players can also decide to make their program go Independent like Notre Dame. This ensures more flexibility in scheduling season after season. However, an independent team is not eligible for a bye in the current 12-team College Football Playoff setting and this applies in the game.

Branding update after conference realignment

Unlike in the past when teams were stuck with the branding of their previous conference after realignment, EA Sports is bringing more advancement to College Football 25. A host of things regarding branding will be altered to match the current league after realignment.

Switching conferences in the Dynasty Mode doesn’t mean a player is stuck with the old conference’s jersey patch or the logo on the 25-yard lines. Those things related to the branding of the new conference will dynamically update based on membership.

Fans can’t wait to achieve their college football fantasy on the Dynasty Mode of College Football 25. The video game is expected to be released on Jul. 19, marking a return after more than a decade of hiatus.
