The success of College Football 25 had millions of fans trying it out over the weekend. The game marks a significant comeback for the sport on gaming consoles after the NCAA Football series ended in 2013.
EA Sports, which produced both series of video games, was forced to discontinue the earlier series due to legal battles with disgruntled student-athletes who didn't receive proceeds from this kind of endeavor before the NIL era.
With so much time between College Football 25 and NCAA 14, fans might be rusty about the mechanics of playing college football on their console. A mechanic that isn't seen often in the sports video games, nor in real life, is the lateral pass. Rightly so, as using multiple throws in football is one of the riskiest maneuvers out there.
However, if you do want to attempt it, the only thing you need to do is to press the L1/LB button and point in the direction in which you want to throw the ball. From there, all you need to do is hope for the best. Who knows, a last-minute attempt might save your game and send your school to the playoffs. Or more likely than not, you might end up getting negative yards or fumbling the ball.
For Madden fans out there, you're in luck. The mechanic is the same as the NFL-centric franchise.
Is College Football 25 available for PC?
Sadly, PC gamers won't be able to get a taste of the new EA Sports College Football 25. The publishing company has decided to make its newest college football video game a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S exclusive. The game won't be available on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms either, to the grumblings of countless fans.
It is a surprising move by Electronic Arts, as the PC gaming market is estimated to be even bigger than the console market by some (900 vs 629 million players per Main Leaf Games).
