The Alabama Crimson Tide football program is entering a new era in the 2024 season under coach Kalen DeBoer. DeBoer was appointed as Alabama's coach after the legendary Nick Saban announced his retirement in January this year. Despite the hype surrounding Alabama's upcoming season, some fans have been curious to learn more about Alabama's home ground, the Bryant-Denny Stadium.
How many people can Alabama Crimson Tide stadium hold?
Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium can accommodate up to 101,812 fans on game day. The stadium is one of the largest in the country in terms of capacity.
When the stadium first opened on Sept. 28, 1929, it was known as Denny Stadium, named in tribute to former Alabama president George Hutchenson Denny. The stadium was renamed as Bryant-Denny Stadium in 1975 to honor former Alabama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. The Alabama football team has been playing its home games at the stadium since 1929.
Earlier this year, Alabama announced that the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium would be named after Nick Saban, who coached the team for 17 seasons. A ceremony honoring Saban will take place on September 7 before the Tide face off against South Florida.
Kalen DeBoer will aim to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to glory as Nick Saban's successor
With Kalen DeBoer at the helm, the Alabama Crimson Tide will have a new coach for the first time since 2007.
DeBoer brings nine years of head coaching experience heading into his first season with the Tide. He spent four years at Sioux Falls and coached Fresno State and Washington for two years each.
Last season, DeBoer led the Huskies to the national championship game. However, Washington lost to Michigan in the final.
Nonetheless, DeBoer has posted an impressive 104-12 coaching record thus far. He's known as a serial winner, and many believe he is the ideal candidate to replace Saban.
