Not many details are known about the biological father of Johnson, including his name. However, when Tez was an infant, his father committed suicide, and then the family moved to Pinson, Alabama, in subsidized housing. It was not easy for Shamika Johnson to raise her kids alone as she had not graduated, and it became harder as time went on. Nix and Chapman are also the parents of Bo Nix, a football quarterback. Nix was born on February 25, 2000, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, USA. Both the brothers attended the Pinson High School together where they helped the team win the class 6A state championship.

Bo Nix began his graduation at Auburn University in 2019, before transferring to Oregon State University for his senior year. Besides Bo Nix, Caleb Nix is also the son of Patrick Nix and Krista Chapman. Like his two brothers, Caleb is a college footballer, who represents the Clemson Tigers Football team for Clemson University.
