Friday is the D-day for the release of the much-anticipated EA Sports College Football 25 game after an 11-year hiatus since the last version was launched. Some fans got an early start after ordering the Deluxe version of the game, which debuted on July 16.

The nitty-gritty of the game that gamers will have to come to terms with includes aspects like increasing their eligibility in college by redshirting. That can be done in both Road to Glory and Dynasty mode.

In college sports, when a player is redshirted, they don't play in games but are still able to practice with the team as they learn the ins and outs of the team and adapt to a higher level of play for a year while still maintaining their eligibility.

A player is automatically granted redshirt status in the game if they are not chosen for at least four games during their freshman year at any given program, giving the staff of the team the choice to make.

In Road to Glory mode, players get a higher chance of redshirting by choosing one of the highly ranked teams to play the College Football game with and picking a player with a low overall rating.

When that player encounters more highly rated recruits, they automatically get less playing time, increasing their chances of being redshirted, which would prolong their collegiate careers.

In Dynasty Mode, the College Football 25 players can pick which players will receive redshirt designation. One only has to go to the team menu and choose the redshirt option for the players that they want the designation awarded to.

On Xbox, the players need to choose using the A button, while on PS5 they should pick using the X button. RS will appear next to the player's name to indicate their redshirt status.

The risk of redshirting prospects in the EA Sports College Football 25 game is that players can opt to enter the transfer portal if they learn that they won't be playing much, so players will have to balance that aspect when making the decision.

Other aspects to consider in College Football 25

The benefit of the new EA Sports College Football 25 game is that the technology has caught up with real life. Players will have to consider factors like the transfer portal and utilizing substitutions actively during games.

The days of using your star players all the time are at an end with the new wear and tear system. That will cause players to be more susceptible to injuries mirroring real life as closely as possible.
